The fair print.
The rules for using Rupya, kept short and in plain words. Please read them with the privacy policy.

The short version
- Rupya records your money. It isn't a bank and doesn't give financial advice.
- Your data stays yours. Export it or delete it whenever you like.
- It's free during early access. We'll never charge you unless you choose to pay.
- Keep your password safe, and use Rupya fairly.
Using Rupya
These terms are an agreement between you and Rupya, built and run by Dhruv Vasisht in India ("Rupya", "we", "us"). They cover the website, the web app and the Android and iPhone apps. By creating an account or using the apps, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use Rupya.
You need to be 18 or older to use Rupya.
What Rupya is, and isn't
Rupya helps you record and understand your own money: accounts, entries, categories, charts, imports, exports and summary emails.
Rupya isn't a bank, a payment service or a financial adviser. It doesn't move money, connect to your bank or tell you what to do with your money. Its numbers are only as accurate as the entries you add and the files you import, so check anything important before you rely on it, for example for taxes.
Your account
- Use an email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself.
- An account is for one person. You're responsible for what happens in it, so sign out devices you no longer use from Settings.
- If you think someone else has got in, reset your password, which signs out every device, and tell us.
Your data
Everything you put into Rupya stays yours. You let us store, copy and process it only as needed to run Rupya for you, as the privacy policy explains. You can export it or delete it whenever you like.
If you use the phone app without an account, your data lives only on that phone. We can't see it, back it up or recover it, so keeping a backup is up to you.
Early access and price
Rupya is free during early access. Features may be added, changed or removed as it grows, and features marked as planned may change or never arrive.
If we ever introduce paid plans, we'll tell you well in advance, and we won't charge you for anything unless you choose to pay.
Fair use
Please don't:
- break the law with Rupya, or use it to store anything you have no right to;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren't yours, or test Rupya's security without our written permission;
- overload the service, scrape it, or use automated tools against it beyond normal use of the apps;
- copy, resell or pass off Rupya, its design or its name as your own.
If you find a security problem, please tell us privately first.
Emails
We send the emails an account needs, such as email verification, password resets and export links. Summary emails are optional: turn them off in Settings or with the link in any of them.
Availability
We work to keep Rupya running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. It may pause for maintenance or problems outside our control. Exporting your data now and then gives you your own copy.
Responsibility
Rupya is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, or for decisions you make based on what Rupya shows. Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it, which during early access is nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law doesn't allow us to.
Ending
You can stop using Rupya and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
If we ever shut Rupya down, we'll give account holders at least 30 days' notice by email, so there's time to export everything.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. For changes that matter, we'll email account holders before they take effect. Using Rupya after that means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of India. We would always rather sort out a problem by talking first.
