A Money Manager alternative that brings your history along.
Rupya reads the Excel file that Money Manager by Realbyte exports. You see what's in it before anything is saved, each account's balance is worked back to match today, subcategories come across, and you can leave any account out. Changed your mind? The whole import can be undone.

What comes across from Money Manager?
Every income and expense row in the export becomes an entry in Rupya, on the same day and at the same time, with its amount, account, category, note and description.
- Accounts. Each one goes into a Rupya account you pick, or a new one.
- Categories, with their emoji. They're matched to yours by name, ignoring emoji and capitals, so "Food" and "🍜 food" stay one category. The rest become new categories, unless you pick one of yours.
- Subcategories. A row with a subcategory lands on the subcategory of that name under its category, and Rupya makes it if it's missing.
Anything Rupya can't read is listed in the preview. Nothing is dropped quietly.
How does the move work?
- Upload the file. In the Rupya web app, open Settings, then Import from Money Manager, and drop in the export. It takes .xls, .xlsx and .csv files up to 10 MB.
- Look it over. Rupya counts the new entries and any already in Rupya, and lists anything worth a look. Nothing is saved yet.
- Accounts and balances. Pick a Rupya account for each one, and type what it holds today. Use a minus for money you owe, like -8,420 on a card.
- Categories. Most will already match. Point the rest at one of yours, or let them come across as new.
- Import. Everything is saved in one go.
Why ask for today's balance? Because it's the one number you can check. Rupya adds up each account's history and works out the opening balance that makes today's figure exact, even if the export doesn't go back to the day you opened the account.
Can I leave some accounts out?
Yes. Every account in the file has an Import switch. Switch one off and it stays behind with all its entries, along with any transfers to or from it. Categories only that account used drop out of the next step, and the Import button counts only what will come across.
At least one account has to come across. Two accounts in the file can't go into the same Rupya account either, because they can't share one balance.
Can I undo it, or import again later?
Yes. Past imports are listed on the same page, each with Undo. Undo takes out that import's entries, puts your balances back, and removes the accounts and categories it made, unless something else uses them by then. When two imports share an account, the newer one goes first, and Rupya says which.
A newer export later on is fine too. Rupya recognises the entries it has already imported, so nothing comes in twice, and a file with nothing new stops at the preview.
Can I take my data out again?
Whenever you like. Export everything, this month or any range you pick, to Excel or CSV. The Excel file opens on a summary of every account, then the full ledger. The CSV keeps Money Manager's columns in the same order, and Rupya can read either file back in.
Once you're in, a few things may be new: months that start on your salary day, a monthly summary email with the Excel attached, and subcategories for the apps you pay most.
